Ethiopian 'Addisu Kidane'

Ethiopian 'Addisu Kidane'

from 19.00

We are more than excited to welcome back the ‘Addisu Kidane’! This phenomenal coffee is produced by a gentleman of the same name who we first came to know as a member of the Worka cooperative (which is part of the Yirgacheffe Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union (YCFCU), an umbrella organization supporting sustainable coffee supply from co-ops in the Gedeo zone. We choose to buy from single-producers that stand out among their fellow cooperative members. Rather than purchasing a mixed lot of coffee from a large group of producers, buying coffee from a single-producer allows us to choose the highest quality coffee with a flavor profile that we enjoy most. We are always trying to get closer to the source of the coffee itself to single out which co-ops, producers, lots on the farm, and varieties are most impressive and this coffee is a great demonstration of why that matters.

This year, in particular, marks exciting changes for the exporting laws in Ethiopia. For the first time ever, single-producers are able to sell and ship their own lots, without having to pay into a cooperative. This means amazing changes for Addisu Kidane and his farm as we are now able to directly purchase his crop from him and therefore directly compensate him for his amazing practices and commitment to excellence.
