Ethiopian 'Jemjem'

Ethiopian 'Jemjem'

from $24.00

Ethiopian ‘Jemjem’ is a naturally processed coffee with a creamy and silky body. It has sweet, tea-like flavors, which are classically found in coffees from the Yirga Cheffe region. These flavors include lilac, strawberry, passionfruit, and lemon verbena.

This coffe was just scored 94 points by Coffee Review, who was founded in 1997 by Kenneth Davids and Ron Walters. Coffee Review introduced the first-ever 100-point, wine-style coffee reviews to the specialty coffee industry.

We’re always on the hunt for coffees that really shine and blow us away - Ethiopian ‘Jemjem’ did just that. While most Ethiopian coffees come from co-ops and are a collection of beans from multiple small farms, this coffee was grown by a single producer on one, slightly larger, farm. This means that green coffee they produce has been grown in a manner that provides greater precision in developing the flavor profile of the coffee. In addition to more intentional growing practices, this coffee is more selectively picked and then dried on raised beds. The drying process takes a bit longer at this farm, which is beneficial to the coffee in developing its flavors and quality. They spread the coffee out on the raised-beds in one layer, rather than the common practice of laying down multiple layers that need to be turned/stirred to make sure the coffee dries evenly. The care and control that the farmers use when producing this coffee is truly something that comes through when tasting the final product - a clean, refined, and delicious brew.
